Week 13 - Day 90 - 275 Days Remaining

Christmas was a lot of fun. Not much training or diet control occurred though! I weighed myself this morning and I have gained 5 pounds since last Thursday, but I don't think all of the dessert I ate has quite registered yet.

I also wanted to post a new chart, hopefully interactive and continually updating, that contains my progress to date.

Week 12 - Day 78 - 287 Days Remaining

Quick update tonight. I lost 3 pounds this week weighing in at 249 pounds for a total of 35 pounds lost. Careful dieting (afternoon/evening snacks) and some good workouts I think let me pull this off. Hopefully, I can keep it up and at least not gain too much over the Christmas holiday!

Week 11 - Day 75 - 290 Days Remaining

I finally got in a workout tonight. End of year tasks at work have kept me busy along with family events. I decided it just wasn't going to let up and that I'd need to sacrifice some sleep if I wanted this to happen. My workout tonight felt great! My diet over the last few days hasn't been keeping up though...

Bad meals since Thursday:
Overkill at Gripmas this year - way too much food.
Chinese buffet for dinner one night.

Breakfast
2 egg whites and 1 whole egg [2P]
1 ounce ham [1P]
1/2 cup 1% milk [0.5P/0.5C/0.5F]
1 cup applesauce [3C]
9 whole almonds [3F]

Lunch
3 ounces ham [3P]
1 slice low carbohydrate bread [1C]
1 apple [2C]
10 whole almonds [3.5F]

Afternoon Snack [Enter the Evil!]
1 slice pecan pie [bajillion calories, measured scientifically]
1 scoop Coldstone ice cream [1/2 bajillion calories, measured equally scientifically]
We had an engineering holiday party this afternoon and I succumbed to the buffet of sweets.

Dinner
1 cup beef vegetable soup [2P/2C/1F]
5 chocolate covered peanuts [who's counting at this point?]

Evening Snack
Yeah, skipped this as it was completely unnecessary.

As you can see, I was afflicted by a sweet tooth today and will undoubtedly pay the price for it come Thursday morning.

Week 11 - Day 71 - 294 Days Remaining

This has been a challenging week for my training and diet program. Thursday through Sunday I would eat a good breakfast and lunch, but eat a very non-Zone friendly dinner. I believe there was pasta involved for a snack one night. But, my workout program was going well those days. Monday through today, my workouts suffered from my being under the weather and very tired. My diet went well on those days though. That sounds like it should balance out, but I think Thanksgiving was getting it's revenge as well.

I ended up gaining two pounds this week, weighing in at 252 pounds, for a total weight loss of 32 pounds. I think the inactivity the last four days combined with the non-Zone eating from early in the week was just too much. Still, overall I'm happy with my program, a nine week straight run consisting of 34 pounds of weight loss still seems incredible to me.

I know that all diets have their down weeks, and this is one of mine. The trick is to not be disheartened and to keep plugging away. I'm going to use the memory of this week as a way to drive my program forward, helping me focus more and stay dedicated.

Week 10 - Day 64 - 301 Days Remaining

I did my circuit training workout last night and it was hard. I feel weaker of late, the exercises seem harder to do. It might be a result of doing my exercises more quickly. I notice that I usually have 1:10 remaining after the step, 0:35 left after the arm exercises, and 0:10 left after the leg exercises. Lunges are getting easier, squats are harder, but I finish them more quickly now.

It's time again for a review of progress made!

Starting Weight: 284 pounds
Week 1: Lost nine pounds / nine overall - 275 pounds
Week 2: Lost six pounds / 15 overall - 269 pounds
Week 3: Lost two pounds / 17 overall - 267 pounds
Week 4: Lost three pounds / 20 overall - 264 pounds
Week 5: Lost four pounds / 24 overall - 260 pounds
Week 6: Lost one pound / 25 overall - 259 pounds
Week 7: Lost four pounds / 29 overall - 255 pounds
Week 8: Lost three pounds / 32 overall - 252 pounds
Week 9: Lost two pounds / 34 overall - 250 pounds

Starting Waist: 50 inches
Week 4: Lost three inches / three overall - 47 inches
Week 9: Lost three inches / six overall - 44 inches

So despite Thanksgiving over indulgences and weighing in five pounds heavier just two days ago, everything is very much on track. I couldn't be happier with my training program at this point!

For the last week I haven't done my run/walk exercises, only circuit training. My training program has evolved quite a bit since the beginning. I feel that letting my run/walk training slip is a Bad Thing and I should get off my lazy butt and do it. I think the reason that it's slipped lately is that it's just so easy to do my circuit training in the evening (in the house!) after the kids go to bed. Doing the run/walk entails going to the YMCA since the sidewalks have been slippery a lot lately.

I've been doing decent on sleep, but I need to get in bed an hour earlier so that I can wake up and get to the gym!
